Adam Essex - Today may be our Independence Day here in America. We celebrate our freedom on July 4th but on our next show, July 18th, we'll be holding a new event to celebrate that freedom. Yes, BWI is a global company but we're 1000% American and damn proud of it. At Independence Day Brawl, or IDB, we'll have our annual Great American Rumble match. Patrick Mulligan - Phenyx, for the past month or so, you've been uncharacteristically quiet.   Not only that, but you've been on a losing streak of late.  Why is that?

Phenyx - Honestly, I've been going through some personal stuff.  I guess you could say I've been distracted.

Phenyx - Anyways, yes, I have been on the losing end lately.  My head hasn't been in the game.  Being the American Champion puts a target on my back, and guys like Lance Jordan and Shane Washington think they can take advantage of that.  They're only building themselves up for disappointment, though.
 
Patrick Mulligan - But they've both scored a win over you recently.  Are you saying that doesn't affect on your psyche?

[Phenyx shrugs.]

Phenyx - It has more of an affect on theirs.  They now think they can beat me, so their eyes are on this...

[Phenyx pats the American Championship belt.]

Phenyx - I enjoy being a champion, and all the perks that come with it.

Phenyx - And if it means keeping the American Championship in my possession...I'm not above using it as bait.

Patrick Mulligan - What do you mean by that?

Phenyx - It's simple, Mulligan.  Just think of it as the classic snare.  Lance Jordan and Shane Washington are two little rabbits frolicking in the woods.  Suddenly, they see a delicious looking carrot.  Or, in this case, American Championship belt.  They covet it.  They become so focused, that they think they can just walk up and take it.  They're oblivious to the danger that looms.  So, they approach the carrot and...

[Phenyx pauses for dramatic effect.]

Patrick Mulligan- And?

[Phenyx smirks.]

Phenyx - The trap is sprung.  Without even realizing it, those two little rabbits find themselves hanging upside down.  They were so blinded by their obsession with the bait, that they failed to see the trap for what it was.  And there's the carrot, still out of their reach.

Patrick Mulligan - Good story.  I don't see how it applies here, though.

Phenyx - Of course you don't, Mulligan.  For the past few months, I've been the hunted.  It's time to change that.  It's time to become the hunter.  This Phenyx, is now a bird of prey...

Derrick Chambers - As usual, I'm not sure what to make of all that.  And I've always wondered what the perks to being a champion are.  Everyone always talks about them, but nobody ever says what they are.

Jason Muller - Fame and fortune, I'm sure.

Derrick Chambers - There's got to be more to it than that though.  Fame comes with being a professional wrestler.

Jason Muller - Oh, I know!

Derrick Chambers - Do tell.

Jason Muller - I bet one of the perks Phenyx referred to is a raven-haired beauty that's wrapped in gold.

Derrick Chambers - You speak in riddles now?

Jason Muller - A raven-haired beauty that's a fellow champion.  

Derrick Chambers - Ohh, I get it.  But she's got her own.  Why does she need his?
